TCU Performs Well In Season Opener

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Five Horned Frogs posted career bests as TCU opened the indoor track and field season at the Reveille Invitational on Saturday.
In his first meet in Purple and White and his first race since 2015, junior Jalen Miller blazed to a 6.68 finish in the 60-meter dash, placing first. Miller sat out last year due to injury, but he did not miss a beat in his return to the track. Junior transfer Emeilo Ferguson was close behind in second with a time of 6.70. Sophomore Darrion Flowers clocked in with a career-best and fourth-place time of 6.74.
In the men’s 200-meter dash, senior Raymond Bozmans logged a time of 21.43 to take home silver.
TCU’s 4x400-meter relay quartet of freshman Ryan Champlin, junior Kevin McClanahan, Flowers, and freshman Jostyn Andrews opened the season at 3:11.26. The women’s 4x4 team of sophomores Jaden Davis, Kayla Heard, Lexi Aitken and senior Tiffany Terry raced to a third-place time of 3:40.62, improving on last year’s opening relay time by six seconds.
On the throwing side, freshman Leilyn Miles showed out in her TCU debut as she placed second in the shot put behind a mark of 46 feet 8 inches (14.22 meters). Junior Justin Sanchez recorded a career-best mark of 58 feet 10 inches (17.93 meters), and freshman Isaiah Rogers earned third in the men’s shot put with a distance of 54 feet 9.50 inches (16.70 meters).
The final meet of 2016 also marked the first competition of the 2017 season. The Frogs will return to action on Jan. 20, as they head back to College Station for the Texas A&M Invitational.
