Preview: New Mexico Invitational

FORT WORTH, Texas –TCU track and field continues the indoor season in Albuquerque, NM< on Saturday at the New Mexico Team Invitational.

MEET INFO
TCU will compete against Grand Canyon, New Mexico, New Mexico State, San Diego State, Texas State, Utah State, and Washington State. The meet kicks off with the women’s weight throw at 9:30 a.m., with the track events starting at noon with the women’s 600 meters.

LAST TIME OUT: Red Raider Invitational
Sophomore sprinter Derrick Mokaleng had a career day in Lubbock, finishing with the second fastest 600-yard mark in collegiate history (1:08.18) and a come-from-behind win on the final leg of the 4X400 relay. TCU’s 4X400 relay owns the Big 12’s top two marks so far this season.

In the 60m, Jalen Miller recorded a first-place mark of 6.66, the fastest so far in the Big 12. Emelio Ferguson’s 6.71 mark earned him third place and ranks third in the Big 12.

TCU took the top three spots in the weight throw, with Isaiah Rogers finishing first (61’ 11”), followed by Ryan Camp (61’9.5”) and Justin Sanchez (61’4”). Rogers, Sanchez, and Camp’s throws from the Reveille Invitational in December rank fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively in the Big 12.

In the distance events, TCU earned three second place finishes: Evelyn Mandel in the women’s mile (5:04.80), Nicole Hicks in the women’s 3000m (10:23.22), and Brendon Hicks in the men’s mile (4:31.08).
