Baker finishes third in Birmingham

March 5, 2018

Birmingham, U.K. - TCU track and field alum Ronnie Baker placed third in the 60-meter dash at the 2018 IAAF Indoor Championships on Saturday.

Baker's 6.44 second finish earned him the bronze medal in his IAAF World Indoor Championships debut. Baker won his preliminary heat with a 6.57 mark.

"This is my first World Indoor Championships," Baker said. "The mindset is to win a gold medal, but being in the top three is great."

Baker is still one of only three men to ever run a 6.40 or better. Earlier this season at the USA Track and Field Indoor Championships, Baker finished second with a 6.40 mark.

Fellow American Christian Coleman took the gold with a time of 6.37, the second fastest time in history.
