Preview: Reveille Invitational

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU track and field team opens the season at the Reveille Invitational hosted by Texas A&M on Saturday, Dec.9. This marks the third time in the last four years the Horned Frogs have competed at the Reveille Invitational.
The meet is scheduled to being at 3 p.m., with TCU competing against Texas A&M and Houston.
All-American Scotty Newton leads the Horned Frogs in the triple jump. Last season, following a 52 feet 5 inch (15.99m) mark at the Big 12 indoor championships, Newton reached 50 feet 10.75 inches (15.51m) at NCAA Indoor Nationals and earned Second-Team All-America honors.
Jalen Miller returns in the 60m. The 2015 All-American ran his fastest time as a Horned Frog last season at the Reveille meet, picking up the win with a 6.68 mark. Miller is the current Big 12 100m champion.
Brittney Trought, last year's Big 12 indoor bronze medalist, returns in the 60m hurdles. She ran an 8.32 in the Big 12 prelims before recording an 8.34 in the finals, leading to third place.
TCU returns three of four members from its men's 4X400 relay from last season. Kevin McClanahan, Jostyn Andrews, and Derrick Mokaleng recorded a 3:06.84 mark last indoor season and reached the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Justin Sanchez, Ryan Camp, Isaiah Rogers and Fellan McGuigan lead the men's team in the throwing events. At the 2017 Big 12 indoor championships, Sanchez had the highest mark for TCU in the weight throw, throwing 59 feet 0 inches (17.98m). Earlier in the season, Sanchez recorded a season-high 60 feet .5 inch (18.30m) throw at the Dunamis Sports Group College Classic. Camp and Rogers threw for 60 feet 1.25 inches (18.32m) and 58 feet 7.5 inches (17.87m) respectively at Texas A&M last year. McGuigan, the school record holder in the hammer throw, returns in the weight throw after not competing last indoor season. In 2016, McGuigan set a personal best in the weight throw at the Big 12 championships with a 53 feet 4 inch (16.26m) throw.
