Assistant Coach (Sprints) | 5th Season

Justin Wickard enters his second season as an assistant coach for the TCU track and field program working primarily with the sprints division.

In his first year at TCU, the Frogs posted first-place times in the 60-meter dash (two), 100-meter dash (one), 200-meter dash (one), the 400-meter dash (three), the 4x100-meter relay (two) and the 4x400-meter relay (two).

Raymond Bozmans recorded the fastest time by a Frog in the 60-meter final at the New Mexico Invitational with a time of 6.60. His time at the meet put him at 11th in the country overall. In his indoor campaign, he tallied five of the top seven times by a TCU sprinter in the event. He also posted third and fourth place finishes in the 4x40-meter events during the indoor slate. Fellow teammate Malik Summers also finished first in his individual 60-meter heat to qualify at the New Mexico Invitational.

In the 400-meter dash, Senior Briyanni Thomas posted two first-place finishes in the outdoor season, as well as five of the top seven times by a Frog in the event. At the TCU Invitational, she put up a time of 54.74 for the top time. A couple weeks later at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational, she improved her time with a 54.23. Her overall best came at the Big 12 Championships when both her preliminary and final race times clocked in at 52.86.

Under Wickard's direction in his first season with the Frogs, TCU earned outdoor Second Team All-America honors in the men's and women's 4x100-meter relay and Honorable Mention accolades in the 4x400-meter relay. In the indoor campaign, the Frogs recorded Second Team honors in the men's 4x400-meter relay.

Wickard spent six years coaching in the ACC, Big 12 and the WAC and mentored 11 All-Americans upon his arrival in Fort Worth.

Before TCU, Wickard coached two seasons at Louisiana Tech. In 2012-13 he mentored a pair of hurdlers - Kim Francis and Yusuf Muhammad - who qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, finishing 21st in the 100-meter hurdles and 18th in the 400-meter hurdles, respectively. He also mentored sprinter Trey Hadnot who earned All-America recognition with a third-place finish in the 200-meter at the NCAA Indoor Championships. In his first season, Wickard helped the Lady Techsters claim both the women's indoor and outdoor titles.

A native of Scottsbluff, Neb., Wickard was a volunteer sprints and hurdles coach at North Carolina prior to joining Louisiana Tech. While with the Tarheels, he coached two indoor All-Americans and helped guide the men's team to the ACC Indoor Championships runners-up title, the program's best finish since 2002. He also guided athletes to ACC titles in the 400-meter and the 4x400-meter relay indoors with another All-America honor coming during the outdoor season.

Prior to North Carolina, Wickard spent the 2009 season as the graduate assistant sprints and hurdles coach at Chadron State College in Nebraska where he coached two Division II national qualifiers in the hurdles while his athletes set four indoor school records. Wickard earned his master's of science degree in organizational management while coaching at Chadron State.

During the 2007-08 seasons, Wickard was a volunteer coach at Texas Tech where he helped coach eight all-Americans in the hurdles and relays. Wickard's athletes also claimed six Big 12 individual titles and 14 Midwest Regional qualifiers.

Wickard graduated from Utah State in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis in health and wellness while running track with the Aggies. He was a three-time West Region qualifier in the 100m hurdles and advanced to the NCAA Championships. In 2006, he competed at the USA Indoor Championships in the 60-meter hurdles.
