TCU family loses 'true Horned Frog
Oct. 8, 2007
Longtime TCU photographer Linda Kaye died Sunday night after a bout with cancer.
A 1963 TCU graduate, Kaye began taking photos of the Horned Frogs her
freshman year. She was a staple at TCU athletics and campus events as well
as being a longtime photographer for the Texas Rangers.
"Linda Kaye is a TCU legend and we are deeply saddened by her death," TCU
athletics director Danny Morrison said. "Linda was a true Horned Frog who
was synonymous with TCU. She touched the lives of so many people, including
TCU student-athletes, coaches, staff, alumni and fans. With the many
outstanding images Linda captured through the years, her work will forever
be remembered."
During her final days in the hospice unit at Baylor All Saints Medical
Center, Kaye was visited by many from the TCU family. President George W.
Bush and major league baseball Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan made telephone calls
to her. Bush met Kaye from his time as the Rangers' owner.
Last week, Kaye was notified that she will be inducted into TCU's Bob
Schieffer School of Journalism Hall of Excellence.
Kaye's Horned Frog memorabilia from the past 50 years will be donated to
TCU.
Kaye will be buried Monday in a private graveside service.
