TCU Divers Compete at NCAA Zone D Competition

AUSTIN, Texas - Five TCU divers ended their seasons with strong showings at the NCAA Zone D diving meet this weekend at the University of Texas. Horned Frogs Kelly McCain, Chad Hummel and Stephen Gebren took part on the men's side, while Kelly Seely and Codi McLamb represented the Lady Frogs.
McCain had TCU's strongest showing in Friday's men's one-meter competition, scoring 265.75 points in the prelims and 557.75 in the finals to finish 11th overall. Hummel tallied 251.10 in the prelims and 501.35 in the finals to place 15th, while Gebren took 20th place with 229.00 points in the preliminary round.
In Friday's women's three-meter action, Seely earned 256.75 points from the judges in the prelims and 409.75 in the finals, good for 12th place overall. McLamb scored 186.75 in the prelims to place 25th.
On Saturday, Hummel led the Frogs by placing 14th in the men's three-meter competition with 256.30 points in the prelims and 422.30 in the finals. McCain finished 16th with a prelim mark of 257.60 and 414.65 in the finals, while Gebren placed 18th with scores of 237.50 and 402.70.
Seely was TCU women's high scorer in Saturday's one-meter event, placing 21st overall with a 199.25 preliminary mark. McLamb scored 182.40 in the prelims to place 24th.
"We are very proud of how well our divers competed against a very strong field at the Zone D competition," TCU head swimming and diving coach Richard Sybesma said. "Our divers were an integral part of our successes as a team this season and they continued to represent TCU in a positive way with their performances this weekend."
