TCU Swimming and Diving Achieve Academic All-American Status

Horned Frogs: Conference USA Invite Champs and Academic All-Americans

Aug. 7, 2003

Fort Worth, TX - In order to be considered for the award, a team must compile a combined grade point average of at least 2.8. TCU men ranked 20th and the women rated 57th nationwide of the teams that met the criteria for the spring semester.

Squads that qualify are recognized in one of the three distinctions: commendable, excellent or superior. With the women's squad holding a 3.039 and the men obtaining a 3.043 GPA, they both received a ranking of excellent.

"We reached two of our team goals: achieve over a 3.0 and receive Academic All-American," said head coach Richard Sybesma. "This is what we strive for. I am extremely proud of both programs."

In the pool, the men claimed the Conference USA men's invitational championship for the second year in a row, while the women maintained their third-place finish. Ten women Horned Frogs earned places on the All-Conference USA teams, while 14 men garnered coaches' all-conference accolades.
