Was a 6-3, 40-6, 6-0 winner over No. 68 Japie De Klerk of Tulsa, a 6-4, 6-4 winner over No. 69 James Meredith of Boise State and a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 winner over No. 120 Matheus Pereira of Wichita State ... Had five wins over players who ended the year among the nation's top-125 players ... Took Georgia's No. 3-ranked Will Spencer to a third-set super tiebreaker in the season's second match ... Had a five-match winning streak that included wins over the top players from No. 49 Alabama, No. 22 Texas Tech and No. 49 Santa Clara ... Scored one of TCU's four points in the Mountain West quarterfinals with a 6-2, 6-0 dismantling of UNLV's Rene Ruegamer ... Named Mountain West Player of the Week on Feb. 15 ... Played with multiple different doubles partners during the spring season ... Best mark was a 5-4 ledger with fellow freshman Will Stein ... Opened the season playing with JT Sundling at the No. 1 spot ... That duo had wins over the top duos from Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Alabama ... Chappell and Stein were 8-3 winners over Lawrence Formentera and David Pultr and 9-8 (6) winners over Japie De Klerk and Lucian Gheorghe of Tulsa ... FALL 2011 (FRESHMAN)
Notched three wins in his first collegiate tournament during the fall ... Had wins over Ryan Proctor, Tyler Brown and Zach White at the ITA All-American Championships ... Went 2-1 at the USTA/ITA Texas Regionals with wins over Sudanwa Sitiram of Texas and Rafael Pfister of Texas Tech ... Added his final two wins of the fall over Rice's Peter Frank and Texas Tech's Rafael Garcia at the Southwest Conference Shootout.
Has competed in all four junior Grand Slams, reaching the second round of the French Open ... reached as high as No. 3 in the USTA boys U-18 national rankings in 2010 and No. 26 in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) rankings ... his achievements include a doubles title at Kalamazoo in 2009, while reaching the singles finals and also taking the doubles crown at the 2010 Easter Bowl ... led North Central High School to an Indianapolis state title in 2007 ... claimed the 2008 Indiana singles state championship as a sophomore, posting a perfect 25-0 record ... became the first North Central boy's tennis player to capture an individual title for the Panthers since 1998-99 ... recorded an overall record of 45-2 in two seasons of high school tennis ... transferred to Indiana University High School, a distance learning online curriculum, after his sophomore year to allow him the opportunity to travel and play in more tournaments during the school year ... worked with private coach Hector Clavijo at the Indianapolis Racquet Club for nine years.
