TCU Doubles Team Wins in Puerto Rico

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico

Juniors Jordan Freitas and Jacopo Tezza from the No. 17 TCU men's tennis team recorded an 8-6 doubles victory over No. 28-ranked California's Tyler Browne and Daniel Sebescen Wednesday, Jan. 12, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Results from the first day of competition at the Puerto Rican Tennis Invitational were not immediately available. Browne and Sebescen were ranked No. 22 in the nation during the fall.

The Horned Frogs' other two duos of Rafael Abreu and Fabrizio Sestini, and Jacob Martin and Andrew Ulrich were defeated by the Golden Bears. Abreu and Sestini fell to Patrick Briaud and Conor Niland, 8-6, while Lennart Maack and Dean Wallace downed Martin and Ulrich, 8-5. Abreu and Sestini were ranked eighth in the fall and Briaud and Niland were 18th.

Play continues Thursday with singles matches followed by doubles. TCU plays singles and doubles against No. 5 Illinois before facing Cal's singles lineup. Georgia Tech, ranked 35th, is also competing in the event.
