Dachs and Lugones Move on at Classic

FORT WORTH, Texas – Arnau Dachs and Facundo Lugones are moving on in singles action as the No. 39 TCU men’s tennis team finished competition on the first day of the NCTC Collegiate Classic in Indian Wells, Calif., on Friday.
Dachs and Lugones were both successful in the Round of 16 and move into the quarterfinals tomorrow. No. 118 Lugones defeated Aaron Addison of San Diego 6-4, 6-5 (9), while Dachs took down Romain Kalaydijan also of San Diego, 6-4, 6-4.
“I am proud of the way Facundo and Arnau found a way to win despite not playing their best,” coach David Roditi said. “We preach being able to dig deeper when needed and they did it. Tomorrow will be another opportunity to compete and grow as players.”
TCU started out the day with Rodolfo Bustamante posting his first victory of 2014 with a 6-0, 6-1 win over David Bensoussan of the College of the Desert Junior College. Bustamante, along with No. 84 Nick Chappell and Will Stein fell in the Round of 16 in singles action.
As the No. 1 seed in the tournament, the No. 11 doubles team of Chappell and Stein are into the quarterfinals of the doubles bracket after two byes, while Dachs and freshman Jhonathan Gonzalez will be joining them after receiving byes of their own.
