FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU men's tennis team opened their home season with a win today at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center, when they defeated Texas A&M Corpus Christi 6-1.

The match was played indoors due to a chilly 19-degree temperature this morning.

The Frogs took the doubles point after all three TCU doubles teams won. The No. 1 team of Fabrizio Sestini and Alex Menichini def. Christophe Bergues and Oscar Roman 8-6. The No. 2 team of Rafael Abreu and Daniel Scholten def. Goncalo Figueiredo and Luis Morris 9-8 with a 7-5 tiebreaker. The No. 3 team of Toni Gordon and Jacopo Tezza def. Loren Collins and Shazeb Niazi 8-4.

On the singles side, TCU won all but one match. No. 1 Gordon was defeated by Bergues 6-4; 6-4. No. 2 Menichini def. Morris 6-3; 6-2 and No. 3 Sestini def. Figueiredo 6-1; 6-3. No. 4 Abreu def. Niazi 6-2; 6-2, No. 5 Scholten def. Roman 7-5; 6-1 and No. 6 Tezza def. Collins 6-3; 6-2.

Abreu is now 6-0 on the season.

Head Coach Joey Riv? said of the match, "I am very pleased with our start, we had tough matches today." "Our doubles teams looked good and we played some good tennis, we're off to a good start."

The Frogs take on Saint Louis Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at the indoor courts at the Friedman Tennis Center.

ADVISORY: Meet the Frogs will not take place Friday after the Saint Louis Match. It will be rescheduled.
