FORT WORTH, Texas - California was unkind to the TCU Horned Frog tennis team as the Frogs lost their second straight dual match to the California Golden Bears on Monday, 5-2. The Frogs lost all three doubles matches and four of six singles matches.

The matches were closer than the score says, three of the six singles matches went into three sets. Alex Menichini put up a fight in the No. 1 spot eventually losing to Balazs Veress (Cal) 6-2; 1-6; 6-2. At No. 2, Conor Niland (Cal) def. Fabrizio Sestini (TCU) 6-2; 6-3.

On Court No. 3 Toni Gordon (TCU) took a victory from Cal's Robert Kowalczyk 6-2; 7-5. At No. 4, Steve Berke (Cal) def. Daniel Scholten (TCU) in three sets 5-7; 6-3; 6-1.

Over on court No. 5, Mik Ledvonova (Cal) took on TCU's Rafael Abreu, who up until today's match stood 9-1, the best singles record on the TCU team. Abreu lost in three sets 7-5; 6-7; 6-2, cutting his singles record to 9-2 overall.

In the No. 6 spot, Jacopo Tezza (TCU) def. Cal's Patrick Briaud 7-6; 7-5.

On the doubles point, the Cal team of Berke/Kowalczyk def. Sestini/Menichini (TCU) 8-3. At No. 2, Briaud/Veress (Cal) def. Gordon/Scholten 8-5. To finish up for the Bears, Ledvonova/Niland (Cal) def. Jacob Martin and Rafael ABreu 8-5.

The Frogs return home to Fort Worth on February 17 to take on South Alabama at 1:30 p.m..
