The 13th-ranked TCU men's tennis team blanked Texas-Arlington 7-0 Wednesday on the indoor courts at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The Horned Frogs upped their record on the year to 2-0, while the Mavericks dropped to 0-2. Next up on TCU's slate is a noon match with Colorado Sunday, Feb. 15, at the Friedman Tennis Center.

The Horned Frogs cruised through the doubles, picking up victories at all three positions. Jacob Martin and Alex Menichini grabbed the first win at three by an 8-2 count over Josey Trimmier and Petri van Rensburg. Hector Almada and Jacopo Tezza were 8-5 winners at the No. 2 slot against David Corrie and Sandy Farquharson to clinch the 1-0 lead. The 19th-ranked duo of Rafael Abreu and Fabrizio Sestini needed a tiebreaker to defeat Niels Buksik and Nathan McGregor at one, 9-8(2), after trailing by a break early in the match. The tandem won six points in a row after going down 2-1 in the breaker.

Sestini notched the first triumph for TCU in singles at the No. 2 hole, defeating McGregor in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. It was his second win of the year at two. Minutes later, No. 44-rated Menichini upset No. 21 Corrie at the top position, 6-2, 6-2, to give the Purple and White a commanding 3-0 lead. It was also Menichini's second victory of the season.

After surviving a first set tiebreaker despite a 5-2 advantage, Almada used his powerful serves to dispose of Farquharson at three singles to clinch the match for TCU. The Hermosillo, Mexico, native was a 6-4 winner in the second set. It was the second match in a row that Almada secured a win for the Frogs.

Tezza and Abreu were the next Horned Frogs to finish. Tezza fought his way through a three-setter with Buksik, 7-6, 3-6, 6-1, at No. 4 singles. At the fifth spot, Abreu also won the first frame in a tiebreaker and then took care of Ian Vazquez-Rowe 6-4 in the second. It was Abreu's first victory of the year after falling to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Oscar Roman in the season opener.

Rookie Horned Frog Robert Gallman provided TCU with the 7-0 sweep by ousting van Rensburg in straight sets at six singles, 6-1, 6-1. It was Gallman's first appearance in a dual match for the Purple and White.
