Horned Frog Men's Tennis Gets By Boise State, 4-3

The 15th-ranked TCU men's tennis team ran its record to 13-1 Saturday thanks to a 4-3 victory against No. 33 Boise State on the Tut Bartzen Varsity Tennis Courts at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth. The Broncos' record dropped to 12-6 this season with the loss.
The Horned Frogs swept all three doubles positions for an early 1-0 lead. The 36-rated combo of Rafael Abreu and Fabrizio Sestini picked up an 8-4 decision at two over Mahmoud Rezk and Matias Silva to snap their five-match losing streak. Jacob Martin and Alex Menichini improved to 13-0 at three doubles when they clinched the point by downing James Ludlow and Nils Klemann, 8-2. No. 21-ranked Hector Almada and Jacopo Tezza posted a 9-8 win at the top slot over Guillaume Bouvier and Thomas Schoek.
Although the final score was 4-3, the Frogs snatched three quick wins in singles to wrap up their 13th victory. Jacob Martin extended his winning streak to seven matches with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 6 over Ludlow. Sestini bounced back from the tendonitis in his knee last Wednesday for a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Rezk at the No. 3 spot. Tezza also returned from an injury, a pulled groin muscle, and won 6-4, 6-0 versus Silva at four singles.
Bouvier, who is ranked 48th nationally, got Boise State on the board when he dispatched No. 40 Menichini at the top slot in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5. Nils took out Abreu at No. 5 by winning a third-set super tiebreaker, 10-8. Klemann won the first stanza, 6-1, and fell in the second in a tiebreaker. Schoek also registered a victory by winning a super tiebreaker at two against Almada. The set scores were 6-4, 3-6, (12-10).
TCU will host No. 5-ranked Rice Thursday, March 25, at 2 p.m. at the Friedman Center.
