FORT WORTH, Texas – The No. 56 TCU men’s tennis team ended the 2013-14 regular season by picking up a 4-3 win over No. 27 Texas Tech on Friday night in Lubbock Texas.

In the final Big 12 match of the season, the Horned Frogs (12-11, 1-4 Big 12) held onto control of the match against the Red Raiders (13-8, 1-3 Big 12) from the start by winning the doubles point and then securing three singles wins.

“This was a great must win for the guys. It is tough to win here in Lubbock and our players handled it well,” coach David Roditi said. “The doubles point was a focus point coming in and our No. 1 and No. 3 teams came through huge.

“This win puts us within reach of an at-large bid for NCAAs and the fun part is that we get to play for it at home when we host the Big 12 Tennis Championships. I hope to see our biggest crowds yet.”

Texas Tech claimed a win on court two in doubles action, but the other two courts were all TCU. The Frogs evened the doubles race, with No. 13 Nick Chappell and Will Stein notching an 8-6 victory on court one for the duo’s team-leading 11th dual match win this season.

Hudson Blake and Facundo Lugones led from the start against Francisco Zambon and Jolan Cailleau, but the Red Raider pair fought back to send the doubles decision into a tiebreaker on court three. The Frogs proved to have more momentum and pulled out a 7-5 win in the tiebreaker to win the doubles point and put TCU up 1-0 in the match.

For the second match in a row, senior Rodolfo Bustamante would put TCU up 2-0 in the match with a straight-set victory on court five. The Brazil native defeated Johann Willems 6-2, 6-0 and has now won the last two matches and finishes his final season with 12 victories in dual matches.

Arnau Dachs extended the lead for TCU by posting a 6-3, 6-3 win over Zambon on court three. Dachs finishes the dual matches with a team-leading 16 wins, including three over ranked opponents.

TCU would suffer losses on courts one and six to put the Red Raiders on the board, but Trey Daniel clinched the win for the Frogs on court four with a 6-3, 6-4 take down of Maxime Hinnisdaels. The freshman’s 14 wins in dual matches are the second most on the team, while Daniel has also racked up 22 singles wins overall.

The match with Texas Tech concludes regular season competition for the Frogs. TCU will now await its seeding in the Big 12 Championships, which will be held at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth on April 24-27.
