The duo defeated Niels Buksik and Sandy Farquharson from Texas-Arlington by an 8-5 count to claim the championship. Abreu and Sestini, ranked eighth nationally, had to defeat their teammates Jordan Freitas and Jacopo Tezza, ranked 56th, earlier in the morning by an 8-6 tally to advance.

"UTA played great in the semis, so we knew we had our hands full," TCU Head Coach Joey Rivé said. "UTA made a few mistakes against us in the finals and we were able to take advantage. I was really happy with our play this weekend.

"Fabrizio had a bad match-up for him in the semifinals. Jung is much faster than him and Fabrizio couldn't figure out how to break him down. Still, he played great all tournament."

In the consolation semifinals of the Gold Singles, Jacob Martin and Tezza both fell to contenders from Boise State in three sets. Thomas Schoeck, ranked 65th, squeeked by Tezza 5-7, 7-6, 7-6 and Luke Shields did likewise versus Martin 4-6, 7-6, 7-6.

"Those matches could've gone either way," Rivé said. "Tezza had a match point and Schoeck came back with some unbelievable shots. I was very pleased with the way both of them played after losing in the first round. They played 10 times better."

Sophomore Andrew Ulrich was crowned the champion of the Green Singles backdraw after his opponent, Emilio Kirby from Lamar, withdrew from the match with an injury.
