FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU men's tennis team had six student-athletes compete at the 2013 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., this past week.

Nick Chappell and Will Stein remain alive in the main draw doubles competition with their semifinal match set for 2 p.m., today against No. 1 seed Mikelis Libietis and Hunter Rees of Tennessee.

In the main draw doubles, Chappell and Stein found victory in the opening round against Becker O'Shaughnessey and Daniil Proskura of Alabama with a close 8-7 win, before defeating No. 3 seed Junior Ore and Jackson Withrow of Texas A&M 8-6. The duo went on to beat Ashok Narayan and Max Schnur of Columbia 8-3 for a semi-final berth.

Chappell also saw action in the consolation bracket of the main draw today and faced Clay Thompson of UCLA in the quarterfinals, but fell 7-6, 6-3.

Chappell started out the tournament in the qualifying draw and defeated Kyle Koch of South Carolina (6-3, 6-2), and Dennis Lengsfeld of Auburn (6-0, 6-3) before falling to Jonny Wang of USC (4-6, 6-3, 7-5). From there, Chappell earned a spot in the consolation draw, where the Indianapolis, Ind., native defeated Tim Kopinski of Illinois (6-2, 6-7, 6-4) and Mackenzie McDonald of UCLA (7-5, 6-2) to make it to the quarterfinal competition today.      

Rodolfo Bustamante and Facundo Lugones had strong showings in the championships by advancing out of the prequalifying bracket and into the qualifying draw this past week.

Bustamante started out the tournament with a win over Luke Johnson of Clemson (6-3, 7-5), before defeating Dan Rodefeld of Bradley (6-1, 6-0), John Darmstaedter of Fresno State (6-3, 6-1) and Jordan Szabo of Texas A&M (6-0 6-3). Bustamante fell in the opening round of the qualifying draw to Ronnie Schneider of North Carolina (6-1, 6-3).

After earning a bye in the first round of the pre-qualifying draw, Lugones defeated Rafael Davidian of UC Irvine (6-1, 7-6), Aleksas Tverijonas of Austin Peay State (6-0, 6-4) and No. 2 seed Constantin Christ of Ohio State (6-3, 6-1) to make it into the qualifying bracket. Lugones would fall to Wang of USC (6-2, 6-4) in the opening round of the qualifying draw, but come back to defeat Koch of South Carolina (6-4, 6-4) in a bonus match.

Andres Alfonzo and Arnau Dachs also competed at the tournament. Alfonzo earned a bye in the opening round of the pre-qualifying draw, but lost to Justin Carter of UMBC (6-3, 7-5) in the second round, while Dachs fell to Hunter Nichols of San Diego State (6-3, 6-3) in the first round of the qualifying draw. Dachs rebounded by defeating Nick Horton of NC State in the bonus match (7-5, 2-6, 6-2).

Dachs and Lugones also saw action in the qualifying draw of doubles with the two defeating Jason Jaruvang and Jacob Heddering of IUPUI 7-5 in the second round, before falling to Hunter Harrington and Dominique Maden of Clemson 8-3.
