Chappell and Stein Win Consolation Bracket
Oct. 21, 2013
Chappell and Stein won three straight matches on Monday to win the consolation bracket and only dropped five games the entire day.
"Nick and Will beat three teams today and only lost a total of five games, which I think is very impressive," coach David Roditi said. "They showed a consistent high level of class and humility. We have the players to beat the top teams and we need to show the confidence and maturity on game day."
The duo started off the day with a dominating 8-1 victory over Michael Morris and Nicklas Wingord of Abilene Christian in the quarterfinals, before downing Nico Agritelley and Jason Proctor of Abilene Christian 8-2 in the semifinals. The doubles tandem ended their run with an 8-2 win over Michael Feucht and Jeandre Hoogenboezen of Lamar in the finals.
Chappell and Stein's performance concludes TCU's action in the regional championships. The Frogs will close out their fall season with the UT Fall Invite on Oct. 25-27, before beginning their spring season on Jan. 9-12 at the UCF Hidden Dual in Orlando, Fla.
