AUSTIN, Texas

Rafael Abreu and Fabrizio Sestini were unable to defend their title at the ITA South Central Regional Monday in Austin, Texas. The TCU duo was defeated by Lars Poerschke and Matija Zgaga from Baylor, 8-3, in the championship match. The loss dropped the No. 8-ranked doubles team's record to 9-3 this fall.

"Rafael and Fabrizio played well throughout the tournament," TCU head coach Joey Rivé said. "That's all you can ask for. They had a few opportunities to get back in it, but Poerschke and Zgaga served very well."

Abreu and Sestini will now wait to see if they receive an at-large bid to the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships over Nov. 4-7 in Ann Arbor, Mich. They were automatic qualifiers last year for winning the regional. Only 16 doubles teams compete in the tournament.
