Jan. 8, 2014
FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 39 TCU men's tennis team is set to open the 2014 spring season with the UCF Hidden Dual on Jan. 9-12 in Orlando, Fla.
"This is a great opportunity for us to start competing and get the juices flowing after being off for winter break," coach David Roditi says. "As a team, this is a good opportunity for us to play a lot of matches before the start of the team season against Florida State at the ITA National Kick-Off in a couple of weeks. This gives us a chance to try out a bunch of different doubles pairings and we get to play a lot of matches against good teams we don't normally see."
The Horned Frogs will face off against competitors from No. 48 Louisville, No. 56 Indiana, Rice and tournament host UCF. Starting on Thursday, TCU will begin with doubles competition against Indiana at 10 a.m., followed by singles action against the Hoosiers at 11 a.m. The team will wrap up the first day of action by playing doubles against Louisville at 2:30 p.m.
TCU will finish competition against the Cardinals by playing singles on Friday at 1 p.m. On Saturday, the Frogs will face off with the Knights in doubles at 7:30 a.m. and singles at 8:30 a.m., before finishing up the tournament on Sunday with doubles competition against Rice at 8 a.m. and singles at 9 a.m.
All 10 members of the Horned Frog squad will see action this weekend, including the No. 11 ranked doubles pairing of Nick Chappell and Will Stein. In the first national poll 2014, Chappell also received a singles ranking of No. 84, while teammate Facundo Lugones checked in at No. 118.
Results and a recap from the competition will be available on GoFrogs.com following the conclusion of competition each day.
