Preview: ITA Kick-Off Weekend

FORT WORTH, Texas - For the third straight season, the No. 10 TCU men's tennis team will play host to the 10th annual ITA Kick-Off Weekend from Jan. 27-28 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

The Horned Frogs (2-0) are the No. 1 seed in the four-team pod and will face the fourth seed, San Diego (1-0), on Saturday at 2 p.m., on the Bernard J. `Tut' Bartzen Varsity Courts. TCU will also welcome Louisville (3-0) as the No. 2 seed and No. 24 Duke (1-0) as the No. 3 seed, as the two teams will face-off on Saturday at 2 p.m., as well. The winners of each match will play on Sunday at 1 p.m., for a berth to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship hosted by Washington at the Seattle Tennis Club from Feb. 16-19 in Seattle, Wash.

Admission & Promotions
Admission to the event all weekend is free and fans can enjoy free pizza courtesy of Buffalo Bros., and free King Korn popcorn courtesy of the Keep It In The Purple Committee during each TCU match.

TCU Notables
TCU is off to a 2-0 start for the 2018 season which also marks the fourth time under the leadership of head coach David Roditi. TCU was able to score a 4-0 win over Abilene Christian in the season opener before hitting the road to get the 5-2 victory over Arizona State to wrap-up the opening weekend of action.

Alastair Gray leads all players with a No. 23 ranking in the Oracle/ITA singles poll, while Alex Rybakov checks in at No. 31. The pair also combine for the only doubles ranking on the team at No. 13. Gray led the team with an 10-2 mark in singles while Rybakov has a 6-2 record. As a pair, Gray and Rybakov went 4-1 with two wins over ranked opponents during the fall.

Scouting the Toreros
San Diego is off to a 1-0 start on the season after a perfect 7-0 showing against UC Irvine in the opening weekend of action. August Holmgren leads the Toreros with a 12-3 mark in singles action while also picking up eight wins so far this season in doubles. Gui Osorio is playing at the No. 1 position in singles and doubles with a perfect mark on the spring season and a 13-5 overall record between singles and doubles.

All-Time Series Records
TCU will be facing San Diego for the ninth time in program history and first time since 2013 on Saturday. The Frogs hold a 7-1 advantage in the all-time series record and a 3-0 mark in matches played in Fort Worth. The first meeting between the programs dates back to 1977 and TCU was able to take the victory in the first six matches.
