FORT WORTH – TCU’s men’s tennis team continues the tough portion of its schedule Sunday when it takes on No. 17 Tulsa and Oral Roberts in a doubleheader.
The Horned Frogs are 5-2 on the year and coming off a 5-2 win at No. 19 Stanford on Tuesday. It was TCU’s first win over a top-20 ranked opponent since 2009. Tulsa is 3-4 and is the third-straight opponent ranked in the top 20 on TCU’s schedule. ORU is 0-4 this season.
No. 68-ranked TCU is 10-9 all-time against the Golden Hurricane, but TU has claimed each of the last two meetings. TCU last defeated Tulsa in 2010, a 6-1 decision in Fort Worth. TCU is 2-5 all time in Tulsa. The Frogs and ORU have not played since 1980, a 4-2 TCU win.
Both matches will be held at TU’s Case Tennis Complex. First serve against Tulsa is set for 12 p.m., and first serve against Oral Roberts is tentatively scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
Sophomore Arnau Dachs, ranked No. 100 in the ITA singles rankings, has led the Frogs this season, posting a 6-1 mark in singles. Senior Orlando Superlano is also 6-1, while sophomore Facundu Lugones is 5-1.
Nick Chappell and Will Stein have been TCU’s top doubles duo, racking up a 5-1 mark from Nos. 1 or 2 doubles. Tulsa has two singles players ranked among the nation’s top 69. The new ITA singles rankings come out Feb. 12.
