Men's Tennis to Face UT Arlington

FORT WORTH, Texas – The No. 35 TCU men’s tennis team will travel to nearby Arlington, Texas to take on UT Arlington for a noon matchup at the UTA Tennis Center.
The Horned Frogs (1-2, 0-0 Big 12) and the Mavericks (2-3, 0-1 Sunbelt) are meeting for the 22nd time in program history, with TCU holding a 20-1 advantage over UTA. In the previous meeting between the teams last spring, TCU posted a 7-0 blanking of the Mavericks.
TCU last competed a week ago in Chapel Hill, N.C., where the Frogs dropped a closely contest 4-3 showdown with North Carolina. The team won the doubles point, but the Tar Heels came back to take four singles matches to win.
Facundo Lugones is 9-1 on the season and moved from No. 118 up to No. 60 in the singles poll this week. All of Lugones’ wins have come at the No. 3 position and include a win over the 29th ranked singles player in the country.
Nick Chappell is also nationally ranked at No. 77, while the junior also teams up with partner Will Stein for a No. 18 doubles ranking. The duo are 2-1 in dual matches this season and are also 2-1 against nationally ranked opponents.
The Mavericks are on a three-match winning streak after taking a 6-1 win over Midwestern State on Wednesday night.
UT Arlington has two undefeated doubles team this season with Carlos Arbiza and Javier Perez sitting at 3-0, while the duo of Daniel Armengol and Austin Robles are 4-0 on court three. Armengol has one of the top singles records for the Mavericks at 3-1, while Sebastian Erimiciolu and Mario Muniesa are also 3-1 on the season.
