FORT WORTH – After playing its last four matches on the road, TCU’s men’s tennis team returns to the friendly confines of the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center on Tuesday to host No. 7 Pepperdine.
First serve against the Waves is set for 5:30 p.m. from the Friedman Tennis Center. TCU, ranked 44th, is 7-3 on the year and coming off back-to-back wins over Oral Roberts and Rice. Pepperdine is 7-2 and last weekend dropped Florida State.
Tuesday’s meeting is the 21st all-time between TCU and Pepperdine. The Horned Frogs trail in the all-time series, 4-16. The Waves have claimed the last four meetings in the series, including the last matchup in 2008. TCU last picked up a win against Pepperdine in 2004.
Senior Orlando Superlano has been TCU’s top contributor this season in singles, racking up an 8-1 mark to open the spring. Sophomore Arnau Dachs is 7-2 on the year, while sophomore Facundo Lugones has a 6-2 record.
In doubles, Nick Chappell and Will Stein had a 6-3 overall record, while Dachs and Superlano have racked up a 4-3 mark. TCU’s other duo, Max Stevens and JT Sundling, is 3-5 thus far in the spring season.
Three of Pepperdine’s players are ranked among the nation’s top 105 in singles, led by Sebastain Fanselow at No. 4. Alex Sarkissian is ranked 89th, while Finn Tearney is 105th. Neither squad has a ranked doubles tandem.
As with all home matches this season, free pizza from Buffalo Bros. will be available for all fans in attendance. Fans will also have the chance to win various prizes on the prize court in between singles and doubles.
