FORT WORTH, Texas – After going undefeated in singles and helping TCU go 3-0 to start its California spring break road trip, sophomore Alex Rybakov was honored by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon by earning Big 12 Player of the Week honors.

This marks the first Big 12 weekly honor in the Coral Springs, Fla., native’s career.

Rybakov posted key victories in TCU’s 3-0 record on its California spring break road trip so far that led to some of the biggest wins of the season for the team. Rybakov went 3-0 in singles including the fourth and final point in the victory over No. 6 Cal with a 7-6(5), 3-6, 6-1 win over No. 30 Andre Goransson. The Coral Springs, Fla., native continued his streak against No. 41 Stanford with the first victory of the match as he helped lead the team to its biggest comeback of the season after being down 3-0 to the Cardinal. With the three wins, the sophomore has now won 10 straight matches, is 10-1 on the season and 4-0 against ranked opponents

Rybakov also went 2-1 in doubles action with Guillermo Nuñez as the duo defeated No. 54 Andre Goransson and Billy Griffith of Cal to help clinch the doubles point against the Bears and also posted a 6-2 win over UCSB. The pair, who are ranked No. 27 in the Oracle/ITA doubles poll, are now 8-3 on the season with two wins over ranked opponents.

TCU will wrap-up its spring break road trip in California by heading to Malibu to face Pepperdine on March 16 at 7 p.m., CT., at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.
