FORT WORTH – The TCU men’s tennis team opens the Big 12 portion of its schedule Friday when it travels to Oklahoma State before heading on to Oklahoma on Sunday.

First serve against the Cowboys is set for 2:30 p.m., while Sunday’s match with the Sooners is a 1 p.m. start. No. 33 TCU closed nonconference play at 15-5. Oklahoma State is 11-8 on the year and is also playing its first Big 12 match. No. 11-ranked Oklahoma is 13-5 and opens league play with Texas on Friday.

TCU is 5-9 all-time against Oklahoma State, with the Cowboys claiming each of the last five meetings. The schools last faced in 2009, a 5-2 OSU win. The Horned Frogs hold a 9-6 edge on OU in the all-time series, though the Sooners have claimed the last four matches.

The Frogs are beginning play in their fifth conference, having won 20 combined league regular season and tournament titles in their history. TCU won 12 Southwest Conference crowns, three in the WAC and five in the Mountain West. Conference USA did not host a conference championship.

When playing its first match in a new conference, TCU is 2-1 in its history. The Frogs dropped their first-ever conference match in 1974 as a member of the SWC, were winners in their first WAC match in 1997 and the same for their first MWC match in 2006.

Nick Chappell (No. 103) and Arnau Dachs (No. 119) represent TCU in the ITA singles rankings. The sophomores are 6-8 and 14-3 this spring, respectively. Senior Orlando Superlano is 15-3 on the year for the Frogs’ top mark.

In doubles, Chappell and Will Stein make up the nation’s No. 79 doubles tandem and are 12-4 this spring. Dachs and Superlano are 10-3 and have won their last six matches.

Three Sooners are among the nation’s top-61 singles teams. Costin Pavel is 30th, Guillermo Alcorta is ranked 51st and Dane Webb is No. 61. Paval and Webb are ranked 29th in singles. For OSU, Richard Del Nunzio and Denys Pume are the 70th-ranked doubles tandem.
