Seven Named Academic All-Big 12

FORT WORTH, Texas – Seven members of the TCU men’s and women’s tennis teams have been named to the 2014 Academic All-Big 12 First and Second Teams, as announced by the league offices.
All four student-athletes honored on the men’s team were First Team selections, with senior Rodolfo Bustamante and juniors Nick Chappell, Arnau Dachs and Facundo Lugones. Junior Stefanie Tan and senior Monika Sirilova made the First Team on the women’s side, while Simona Parajova represented TCU on the Second Team.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
TCU is at home this weekend, as the Frogs host the 2014 Big 12 Tennis Championships at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center on April 24-27. The men will open the championship by taking on No. 3 Oklahoma at noon on Friday, while the women will take on No. 22 Texas at 3 p.m., on Friday.
