Big 12 Honors Norrie Again

April 25, 2017

FORT WORTH, Texas – After finishing out Big 12 action by going undefeated, junior Cameron Norrie was honored by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon by earning Big 12 Player of the Week honors.

This marks the sixth Big 12 weekly honor in the Auckland, New Zealand native’s career and the third this season. Norrie is the only competitor to win every single Big 12 match he competed in this season with a perfect 10-0 record throughout singles and doubles.

The recently crowned No. 1 singles player in the country, Norrie continued his dominant streak at the top position with two wins over top-25 opponents as his three-set win over No. 13 Juan Benitez of Baylor clinched the 4-1 win over Baylor and the Big 12 title. Norrie is now 16-1 this season and 14-1 against ranked opponents with all of his wins coming at the No. 1 position.

In doubles, Norrie continued his winning streak by pairing up with Trevor Johnson as the duo won their fifth and sixth consecutive matches as TCU has now won the doubles point in 10 straight matches. Norrie has now won eight straight doubles matches and 10 of the last 11.

TCU claimed sole ownership of the Big 12 regular season title with 4-1 wins over Baylor and Texas last week. The Horned Frogs enter the 2017 Big 12 Championship as the No. 1 seed and earned a bye in the first round. TCU will face the winner of the Oklahoma vs Texas match on Friday, April 28 at 10 a.m., at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman, Okla.
