SAN DIEGOO - After going 5-1 in Mountain West Conference action and finishing in second place in the regular-season standings, the 33rd-ranked TCU men's tennis team added more accomplishments to its 2006 season with three players named to All-MWC honors.

"I am definitely proud of our guys and a congratulations goes to them," stated TCU head coach Joey Rivé. "I am looking forward to getting started this weekend, I think that our guys are really ready to play. It is a nice facility. The courts are real nice and I am just excited to get started."

Senior Rafael Abreu headlines the Horned Frogs' trio as he grabbed singles honors after posting a 3-3 conference record at No. 1. A product of Barquisimeto, Venezuela, Abreu is ranked 93rd in singles action. He was also tabbed to the MWC doubles squad while paired with senior Jordan Freitas.

Andrei Mlendea, ranked 32nd, finished his conference schedule with a 5-1 mark playing at the No. 2 position. The sophomore had a strong non-conference campaign, posting wins over sixth-ranked Lars Poerschke of Baylor and 12th-ranked Jerry Makowski of Texas A&M.

TCU opens the 2006 Mountain West Conference Tournament with an 11 a.m. (CST) showdown with Air Force on Thursday. In the first matchup of the season, the Frogs downed the Falcons 6-1 on April 9.
