FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU men's tennis senior Rodolfo Bustamante was honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) this week by being named Most Improved Senior in the Texas Region.

The Bauro, Brazil native posted 20 plus wins in each of his two seasons on campus in Fort Worth, with 26 of those wins coming in dual matches. Bustamante began his senior season by winning his section of the prequalifying bracket at the ITA All-American Championships and competing in the qualifying bracket. In total, Bustamante won nine matches during the fall season.

The lone senior on the team, Bustamante was a constant presence for TCU in singles during the spring and recorded a six-match winning streak during his final campaign. Bustamante also defeated his first ranked opponent in his career in 2014 when he took out No. 113 Andre Goransson of California in straight sets on March 11.

Bustamante was not only excellent on the court for the Horned Frogs, he was also stellar in the classroom. The economics major was a two-time All-Big 12 First Team selection and was a nominee for the Capital One Academic All-District Team.
