Trio to Begin Individual Championships

FORT WORTH, Texas – Postseason action for three members of the TCU men’s tennis team will begin on Wednesday, May 24 as Alex Rybakov will compete in the NCAA Division I Men’s Singles Championship while Jerry Lopez and Reese Stalder will take part in the NCAA Division I Men’s Doubles Championship at the Dan Magill Tennis Center in Athens, Ga.

The No. 20 ranked Rybakov will open action for the Horned Frogs on Wednesday by taking on No. 30 Timo Stodder of Tennessee at 9 a.m., CT. The No. 25 pair of Lopez and Stalder won’t begin action until Thursday, May 25 as the duo will face the No. 29 ranked pair of Connor Johnston and Jathan Malik of Michigan.

An All-Big 12 Singles First Team honoree for the second straight season, Rybakov has not dropped a match since the first match of the season and sits at 22-1 on the year. The sophomore is a perfect 13-0 against ranked opponents and played mainly at the No. 2 spot in the singles lineup during the season for an 18-1 record.

Lopez and Stalder have been ranked in the Oracle/ITA doubles poll since Match 21 and climbed to a season-high spot of No. 25 in the latest ranking. The pair are 11-6 on the season with an 8-5 mark at the No. 1 spot. The duo have defeated five ranked opponents this year and posted three wins during conference action.

TCU finished out the team portion of the 2016-17 season on Saturday as the Frogs advanced to the quarterfinals for the second time out of the last three seasons and eighth time in program history.
