MTEN: Final Rankings Released

FORT WORTH, Texas – A third straight top-10 team finish along with the top spot in the singles poll highlights the final Oracle/ITA rankings for the TCU men’s tennis team that were released this week by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
After advancing to the Elite Eight for the second time in three seasons and eighth time overall in program history, TCU checked in at No. 8 in the final poll. The Frogs finished with an overall record of 22-5 marking the third straight season of 20 plus wins as well as sweeping the regular season and tournament titles in the Big 12 for the second straight season.
For the first time in program history, TCU is represented at the top spot in the singles poll with Cameron Norrie finishing out his career with the No. 1 ranking. After advancing to the singles Final Four a year ago and earning a No. 3 ranking, Norrie went 21-1 in his final season with the Frogs with 19 wins over ranked opponents. In the NCAA tournament, Norrie defeated the No. 2 and No. 3 ranked players and was on an 11-match winning streak. Norrie earned the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Singles Championship, but chose to join the professional ranks as he earned a wild card to the main draw of Wimbledon.
Alex Rybakov became the fourth TCU tennis player in earn All-America honors this season as he finished ranked No. 19 in the singles poll. After dropping his first match of the season, the sophomore went on to ride a 23-match winning streak before falling in the second round of the NCAA Singles Championship. Rybakov defeated 14 ranked opponents and went 22-1 during dual match play. Guillermo Nuñez was ranked for the third straight season at No. 91, while Jerry Lopez wrapped up his career with a No. 114 singles ranking.
After advancing to the NCAA Doubles Championship Final Four, Lopez and his partner Reese Stalder earned All-America honors and finished with a final ranking of No. 12. The duo’s ranking is the highest doubles ranking for TCU since 2001. Lopez and Stalder went 14-7 this season with eight victories over ranked opponents including the No. 1 ranked pair in the country in March. Three other doubles pairs earned final rankings with Lopez and Norrie sitting at No. 44, Nuñez and Rybakov at No. 65 and Trevor Johnson and Stalder at No. 67.
For the third time in program history, TCU had six players finish with a spot in the singles or doubles poll which is the most all-time.
