COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – TCU picked up 65 Mountain West Scholar-Athlete honors for achievement in the classroom with 55 student-athletes being recognized, the league office announced Wednesday.
To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two semesters at the member institution, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better and competed in at least one varsity contest.
It marked the fifth-straight year that more than 50 TCU student-athletes earned the distinction and second straight that 55 student-athletes were honored. The 65 selections are an all-time high for TCU. It had 57 honorees in 2011, 53 in 2010, 51 in 2009 and 57 in 2008.
Matthew Boileau, Kevin Case, Mason Richards, Lilian Chevalier, Katie Dalton, Kelly Dawson, Shannon Speir, Hanna Stradinger, Tricia Terry and Rachel Vanlandingham were honored for cross country, as well as track and field.
Women’s swimming and diving and women’s track and field tied for the most selections with 11. TCU had 14 athletic programs honored, including baseball, men’s cross country, women’s cross country, football, men’s golf, women’s golf, rifle, soccer, women’s swimming and diving, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, men’s track and field, women’s track and field and volleyball.
