FORT WORTH – After finishing 2012 ranked third nationally in average attendance, the TCU men’s tennis team has given fans multiple reasons to come back to the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in 2013.

TCU coach David Roditi released the Horned Frogs’ 2013 spring schedule, which features 14 squads that appeared in the 2012 NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship. Among those is Pepperdine, who went to the NCAA Final Four in 2012.

The schedule features seven teams that finished the 2012 season ranked among the top 20 in the Campbell’s/ITA College Tennis Rankings and 12 that finished in the top 30. Seven of those top-30 teams visit the Friedman Tennis Center in 2013.

“I’m very pleased being able to put together such a challenging and attractive schedule,” Roditi said. “With the types of teams coming to visit the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center, we’ll be showcasing the best level of tennis we’ve had in a long time. You will see some of these players on TV some day.”

Also unique is the schedule featuring schools from nine different conferences, including three on the docket from the loaded Pac-12 Conference. TCU also faces squads from the SEC, ACC, Big Ten and Ivy League before diving into its first year of Big 12 play.

TCU opens its dual schedule Jan. 19 at Michigan, which was ranked No. 21 in the final ITA rankings for 2012. The home slate kicks off Jan. 25 when in-state rival UT Arlington comes to Fort Worth.

In February, TCU hosts Texas A&M (No. 30 in 2012) on Feb. 2 and Pepperdine (No. 6) on Feb. 26, as well as Texas A&M Corpus Christi of Feb. 15. The Frogs’ road schedule is loaded in February with trips to Stanford (No. 9), Tulsa (No. 17) and Rice (No. 56).

March gives fans the best opportunity to catch a TCU home match as the Frogs are home seven times during the month. Crosstown rival SMU visits March 1, while 2012 Southland Conference champion UTSA is in Fort Worth on March 3.

The five remaining home matches in March are as follows: North Carolina (March 9), Columbia (March 20), California (March 24), San Diego (March 26) and Memphis (March 30). All five of those teams advanced to last year’s NCAA tournament.

“Our goal is to have the best attendance in the nation and bringing these teams to Fort Worth should help our crowds grow even more,” Roditi said. “Our team will be ready and we’ll have the pieces together to face such a challenging schedule. We’re excited about the team we have for the upcoming year.”

TCU begins its first season of Big 12 action April 5 at Oklahoma State. While in the Sooner State, the Frogs also travel to defending Big 12 champion Oklahoma on April 7. Texas and Texas Tech visit the Friedman Tennis Center on April 12 and 14, respectively, while TCU closes the regular season April 21 at Baylor.

All weekday home matches, including Fridays, being at 5:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday matches are set for a 1 p.m., first serve.
