TCU Muscle Milk Athletes of the Week
Oct. 26, 2016 FORT WORTH, Texas -- Sally Li of rifle and Trevor Johnson and Reese Stalder of men's tennis have been named TCU's Muscle Milk Athletes of the Week based on impressive performances.
Li, a senior from Singapore, produced season highs of 586 and 596 in smallbore and air rifle, respectively, as the Horned Frogs fired a program-best 4,720 en route to a first place finish at Murray State over the weekend. The 4,720 is two-points better than the record set by the Frogs back in 2012 against Kentucky.
Li placed first in air rifle and tied with fellow teammate Mindy Miles for the match's top aggregate score with at 1,182.
TCU will fire its first home match of the year Saturday, Oct. 29, when it hosts Nevada.
TCU's men’s tennis doubles pair of Stalder and Johnson picked up their second doubles title of the fall season by claiming the crown of the ITA Texas Regional Championships Presented by Oracle on Monday afternoon. The duo, who are ranked No. 41 nationally, upended the No. 20 ranked pair of Arthur Rinderknech and Max Lunkin of Texas A&M, 6-3, 6-2, in the finals to move to 8-1 in fall action.
With the win, the pair earned an automatic berth to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships that will take place from Nov. 3-6 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York. It marks the second time in Johnson’s career that he has advanced to New York for the fall championships, while Stalder will be making the first trip in his career.
