Koontz and Henson Honored as Scholar-Athletes of Month

FORT WORTH - TCU football's Jon Koontz and women's basketball standout Meagan Henson have been named December Scholar-Athletes of the Month, it was announced Wednesday.

Koontz helped the Horned Frogs to a 2-0 record during the month of November. Included in that record is TCU's 31-24 win over Louisiana Tech in the Poinsettia Bowl. A backup defensive end, the Aledo, Texas, native appeared in all 13 games this fall. He totaled 16 tackles for the season, including four stops behind the line of scrimmage, and recovered a fumble against BYU at Cowboys Stadium.

Henson has provided solid depth at the guard position for the Frogs, averaging 10 minutes per game in December. The Yukon, Okla., product dished out a career-high four assists in just nine minutes against Lamar and matched her career-best mark of four points in back to back games against Sam Houston State and Tulsa. Henson ended the month with three steals in nine minutes versus Texas Southern and helped TCU to a 5-2 record in December.
