2008-09 OUTLOOK: Micah Garoutte seems primed to make a significant leap as a sophomore after playing her way into the starting lineup as a true freshman last season... will look to expand her game to beyond the paint area, where she worked most often last season... will have added responsibilities in TCU's offense from a year ago... also hopes to show more consistency on the defensive end of the court... "Micah had a great summer," said Head Coach Jeff Mittie. "As she expands her game, we will look to play her out on the perimeter a little more as a power forward. She is a player who ended the year very strong, and now being in the best shape she has been here, hopefully she can pick right back up where she left off. The player we saw at the end of the season is the one we now expect from the start." 2007-08 (FRESHMAN): Garoutte, one of two true freshmen to hit the floor in 2007-08, saw action in 31 of 35 games during her first season on campus... started 17 of the final 19 contests, helping boost the Frogs to a 15-4 mark over the stretch... scored in double figures three times and led TCU in points once... tallied her first career points with a layup in addition to three rebounds in 11 minutes against Coppin State (Dec. 8)... earned her first career start in TCU's first-ever win over New Mexico (Jan. 15) in The Pit, where she tied previous career highs with four points and two field goals... totaled six rebounds against Colorado State (Jan. 19) in her second start... set former career highs with nine points, four field goals and seven attempts against Utah (Jan. 26)... recorded her first double-figure scoring game with 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting against BYU (Feb. 5)... matched the scoring effort with 14 points the following game at San Diego State (Feb. 9), while also pulling down a career-best seven boards... set a personal best with two blocked shots at Colorado State (Feb. 20)... set a career best with two assists during the regular-season final at BYU (March 8)... made a career-high five blocks, all in the first half, while tying for the team lead with 12 points during TCU's MWC Tournament semifinal loss to San Diego State (March 14)... the swats would have set the tourney single-game record, but Aztec freshman Paris Johnson totaled six blocks in the same game. HIGH SCHOOL: Garoutte was a three-year letterwinner for coach Don Patterson at Plano West High School... ranked as the No. 38 senior in the state of Texas for 2007 by Gordon Louck of TexasGirlsBasketball.com... was a first-team All-District 9-5A selection as a senior after earning second-team honors as both a junior and sophomore... helped the Wolves to the district 9-5A title in 2006-07... helped West win the 2005-06 Class 5A state title as a junior.
