TCU Falls at No. 24 Oklahoma

NORMAN, Oklahoma -- The TCU women's basketball team led at halftime, but struggled in the second half as No. 24 Oklahoma pulled away with an 87-72 win at the Lloyd Noble Center on Sunday.

TCU (8-5, 0-2) led 41-37 at the break, but shot just 3-of-18 in the third quarter as Oklahoma (11-3, 2-0) quickly erased the deficit. The Sooners oustscored TCU in third, 26-11, and in the entire second half, 50-31, to grab the win.

AJ Alix led the Frogs with a season-high 23 points that included 5-of-10 shooting from deep. She added a career-high eight rebounds and five assists. Jordan Moore came off the bench and recorded her second career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Toree Thompson added 12 points off the bench.

Peyton Little led Oklahoma with 25 points while three other Sooners scored in double figures.

The Frogs were outrebounded in the game, 53-38, but committed just 11 turnovers and were just the third team this season to commit less turnovers than the Sooners.

Defining Moments
Oklahoma opened the third quarter with seven straight points to take a 44-41 lead. They then slowly built their lead as TCU continued to struggle from the field. Oklahoma then closed the quarter on a 9-1 run that gave it a 63-52 lead entering the final quarter.

Stat of the Game
11 -- TCU committed just 11 turnovers, the fewest against Oklahoma this season. The Frogs were just the third team this season to commit fewer turnovers than the Sooners, who entered with the Big 12's second best turnover margin.

Quote of the Game
Raegan Pebley on the third quarter: "I think we rushed ourselves out of execution on the offensive end and that got Oklahoma into their transition game."

Notes
- TCU has made at least six 3-pointers in every game this season.
- TCU entered leading the NCAA at 44.3 percent from 3-point range, but hit 35.7 percent on 10-of-28 on Sunday. The Frogs were 7-of-15 in the first half, but then made just 3-of-13 in the second half.
- Oklahoma leads the all-time series against TCU, 20-4. TCU is 0-13 all-time in Norman.
- AJ Alix scored a season-high 23 points, her sixth career game over 20 points. It was her eighth game in double figures this season and 30th of her career.
- Alix set a career high with eight rebounds.
- Alix hit at least three 3-pointers for the ninth time in 13 games this season.
- Jordan Moore recorded her second career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. The 16 points tied a career high.
- Amy Okonkwo has scored in double figures in five straight games, but had four points on Sunday.

Up Next
The Frogs return home on Wednesday when Oklahoma State visits Schollmaier Arena for an 8 p.m. contest. The Cowgirls are 1-1 to start Big 12 play with a home win over Iowa State last week and a loss at Texas Tech on Sunday.
