TCU Head coach Jeff Mittie
"This one got away from us. In the first half, I thought we had enough offense. They were obviously extremely hot with [Nicole] Blaskowsky and [Nikki] Moody. We used that to keep them off the free-throw line. This one was a nine-point game with 4:58 to go, and we had a missed lay-up and struggled from the free-throw line all night, and you aren't going to do that and beat a team ranked 10th or 11th in the nation. It was just a rough night for us shooting the ball."
On TCU's free-throw struggles
"It was just one of those nights. We got to the line a bunch, and I was really pleased with how we attacked them. Even in the first half when we were 9-of-14, we didn't look great there. The ball kind of rolled around. We never looked comfortable. It was just one of those nights."
On how Natalie Ventress' absence affected the outcome
"We had opportunities, but certainly a player like her, when others are struggling, can take over games sometimes. We knew scoring would be at a premium for us. This would be a game that could be in the 50s. I never guessed that we would go to the free-throw line 30 times. If we had known that, I thought we would have scored enough."
On the team forcing 19 turnovers
"Our turnovers kind of evened out the rebounding margin. This is a strange statistical game on paper. We played a very clean game and had decent shots, but just didn't knock any down."
TCU senior center Latricia Lovings
On her defensive effort against a top-10 team
On Iowa State's ability to hit three-pointers as opposed to going inside
"In all honesty, I'm ok with my defensive effort. I didn't step up on offense for our team tonight. I went 1-for-8 from the free-throw line tonight, and that's not good enough. Defensively, I knew I had to step up, and offensively I was not good enough."
"Iowa State did a great job three-point shooting tonight, so hats off to them. When we get back in the gym tomorrow we will have to work on the shots we missed, like free-throws and lay-ups, and get ready to play Texas Tech."
TCU sophomore guard Zahna Medley
On TCU's woes at the free-throw line
"We have to move on. You make some and you miss some. It was just one of those nights. We will do better in the next game."
On her individual offensive effort
"Once you're hot, you're hot. Every time you get the ball, whether they are on you or not."
Iowa State head coach Bill Fennelly
"We have some kids that can really shoot the three and that's a big part of our offense because we don't see a lot of zone. We turned the ball over 19 times, which is too many. I thought our kids did pretty good, but the game changes when you start making shots and Nicole [Blaskowsky] hitting those shots in the first half helped. We had trouble getting to the perimeter. Latricia Lovings is really good and she chases balls, which gave us trouble. We told our kids the goal is to try to make more threes than have turnovers. We didn't quite get there but that's the way we had to play against them."
Iowa State guard Nicole Blaskowsky
On seven-3-pointer performance
"When you see it you have to go for it and when one shot does not go in you have to focus on the next one. You can't settle for less, I have just been taking pride in that and trying to find my role on this team and slowly developing, but three pointers are key for winning games."
