TCU Head Coach Jeff Mittie
"I thought it was a good overall performance by everybody. When the ball goes in the basket we've obviously played real well. I am concerned to what happens when the ball doesn't go in the basket. I think this team is learning to fight through those stretches better. Tonight the ball went into the basket for us. I don't want to make too much out of this one. I thought it was one of those nights for us and one of those nights for UTA. UTA is a very good basketball team. What I liked about us more than anything was that we had some plays that we finished better, we had some hustle plays that turned into points for us, and I just felt like everyone is becoming more comfortable with each other. No matter who we put on the floor, I know we are going to get better effort out there. I think we are starting to come together that way."
On the team's defensive effort
"I thought we had solid discipline. Early we were a little sluggish just in our positioning. I just didn't feel we were as aggressive. We were shooting well at that point but I wanted to see us step up and that is when we really did. I thought Adrianne did a really good job on (Maryann) Abanobi. I thought Helen came in and did a good job on Abanobi. I thought we did an excellent job on their point guard for the most part. I just thought we had much better discipline. We had fifteen steals, which is a bunch. I thought they took the scout (report) and knew where they could get aggressive."
On the team's recent play
"When you string a lot of practices together like we have you seem to get a few bad ones. We have been pretty consistent there. I have been the most pleased with that, because we have practiced twice a day over the break, and you know as a coach that you are going to have some bad ones in there with fatigue and those kinds of things. We have not had too many of those, and that is where this team has needed to be more consistent. We weren't very consistent with that early in the year."
Senior guard Adrianne Ross
On the game
"I think we just forgot about how the season started. We knew this was a good game coming back from Christmas break and we were stringing a lot of tough practices together. We didn't focus too much on the beginning of the season but played really well today."
On setting the TCU career steals record
"I wasn't sure I had it. That last steal was a breakaway layup and I wanted to smile, but I knew it wasn't the time. It was really cool with (former record holder) Rachel (Hesse) being here. I was proud."
On her confidence in the team
"I am confident just because of everyone's attitudes. We are all on the same page. We are practicing and no one is really complaining. We are really trying to get better. I am confident in the team, it's just a really good feeling right now."
