On the ensuing inbound play, KU's Chayla Cheadle committed a technical foul, leading to two makes from Alix at the free throw line. Alix was then fouled just two seconds later on the ensuing possession and proceeded to hit two more free throws.

The six points in less than 10 seconds by Alix pushed the lead to a then game-high nine points, 47-38, with 6:32 to go in the third quarter. Kansas would get within two late in the third quarter, but TCU scored five straight to close the quarter and the Jayhawks never pulled even the rest of the game. TCU led by as many as 16 points in the fourth quarter.

Alix went on to score 18 of TCU's 29 points in the third quarter on 4-of-6 shooting, including two 3-pointers and 8-of-8 from the free throw line.
