Post-Game Quotes

TCU Head Coach Jeff Mittie
Opening Statement:
“I think this thing boils down to toughness and Texas Tech was a lot tougher than we were. They were a lot more physical and I think that is what it comes down to at the end of the day. Neither team was shooting very well and they just really out toughed us.”

On the game overall:
“We got off to a good start, but out discipline and our toughness to stay inside didn't last. We talked about getting to the free throw line. People always think toughness is about rebounding, but toughness is about making moves to get to the areas where you want to get to, which is an area where we are not very tough. We let people take us to areas. Texas Tech is a pressure team and we felt that if we could catch them in the areas we needed to, we could get to the free throw line, but we didn't. We felt like we could get the ball inside and we did that at times, but we were not successful at completing those plays.”

On the quick start and rotation changes tonight:
“We didn’t compete for 40 minutes. We have gotten off to a lot of quick starts the last four games, but we have not been competing at a high enough level for 40 minutes. Zahna Medley and Kamy Cole struggled tonight, which changed our rotation early. A lot of players were being pulled because of effort. It was just one of those nights.”

Motivation from men’s win over No. 5 Kansas:
“We apparently didn't learn anything from it. That was a heck of a game Wednesday night, a heck of a game for our guys. What our team should have drawn from that game is that the guys played very tough and gave themselves an opportunity.”
