Post-Game Quotes

Head Coach Jeff Mittie
Opening Statement:
"This was a tale of two halves. We couldn't have played any worse in the second half."

Was this a new pain?
"They are all new. This one was obviously different because of the big lead at halftime. The start of the second half was the complete opposite from the start of the game. We have come out at the beginning of games, atleast the last five games, and gotten on top of people, but we have not been good coming out of halftime. We are not ready to play after halftime. They scored the first seven out of the half and that puts them back within a manageable number. This one stings. Obviously, I think we are up the entire game and they take the lead with three minutes left and we answer back. Anyways, they all hurt."

On the fatigue of  Zahna Medley in second half:
"She had looks, but she missed quite a few open looks. They denied her the ball more so she had to work more. They did a better job on her in the second half, but she had a solid game."

The youth of our team:
"We've certainly taken our lumps. Our first 42 points were from freshmen tonight, that's a remarkable number. We recruited them to be good in this league. There are enough games in here that they are not freshmen anymore. I think they got a little ahead of themselves tonight. We think the freshmen are good enough to do good things in this league."

Closing statement:
"I will probably have to re-talk to them tomorrow. I'm not very happy with the effort plays. I felt like there were chances to get loose balls and we were hesitating, and giving up some layups you can not give up. You cannot give up layups in transition play."

Kansas Head Coach Bonnie Hendrickson

Opening Statement:
"We obviously came out of the locker room in the second half thinking that we couldn't play offensively like we did in the first half. In the first half we played everything that we had and a few things that were new just so we could keep up with those girls. We just tried to play defense and play aggressively. I think we did that."

On Cole and Medley's play tonight:
"Both of those kids have done a good job and they are so impressive from what I've been watching on their film. I was impressed even more watching a few videos of them. From a talent standpoint of course there is an opportunity to be successful. They have a lot of confidence."
