Post-Game Quotes

Jeff Mittie, TCU Head Coach
Opening Statement:

"We shot the ball better with a fairly balanced attack all night, which gives us more options. The other thing was that we were able to rush them just enough. They struggled with that in the second half a little bit. They are a very good team and I was concerned due to their size and ability to shot the ball off the zone. I thought our group played really hard. Iowa State got off to a great start. I didn't think we were as active as we needed to be but we made Brynn Williamson miss just enough. I think she hit her first two or three to start of the game, then we held her off."

On the win:
"Because we have some droughts scoring, anytime we can get another person in the mix like Delisa (Gross), it's a good thing. I think we scored just enough inside for them to honor us inside."

Delisa Gross, TCU Senior Forward
On the late in-bounds play late in the second half:
"One of my favorite plays is that corner inbounds play because I know how to read it so well."

On her last home game:
"The way I play home games is possession by possession because I don't keep stats in my head. It has been an enjoy able four years, but everything comes back in flashes. I am happy to have this day spent with Whitney Williams. She is one of my good friends."

Bill Fennelly, Iowa State Head Coach
Opening Statement:
"Sometimes the game is really simple. When you shoot 28 percent, you aren't gonna win many games. I had no problem with the shots we got, but when you shoot like that you are gonna get beat. The last four minutes of the first half and the first part of the second half was the worst we had played in a long time. Some of that was my fault, but we had a great opportunity to take care of some things and we didn't. Gotta give TCU credit."

On if TCU's gameplan affected ISU:
"I don't think it bothered us a whole lot. It may have bothered some of our interior kids because they wanted to move around some and get more active. We had 10 turnovers in the first half and made some bad decisions there. Some of those shots we take all the time. We had a couple of defensive breakdowns at critical times, missed the front end of some one-and-ones and gave up a three at the buzzer before the half. Stuff like that in this league determines outcomes, and TCU made the plays and we didn't."
