Frogs Cruise in Exhibition Win

Fort Worth, Texas -- The TCU women's basketball team was dominant in the paint and rode that strength all the way to a 78-50 exhibition win over Texas Wesleyan at Schollmaier Arena on Thursday night.

The Frogs scored 56 of their 78 points in the paint and outrebounded the Lady Rams by a sizable 51-28 margin. Freshman Lauren Heard came off the bench and led the Frogs with 16 points while also adding six rebounds and four assists.

Three other Frogs scored in double figures, led by Jordan Moore's 13 points. The junior center hit 5-of-8 shots and also added a game-high eight rebounds. Amy Okonkwo added 12 points and Ella Hellessey chipped in 10 for the Frogs.

Dakota Vann led the Frogs with seven assists while Amber Ramirez added six dimes. The Frogs assisted on 26 of their 33 made buckets.

Defining Moments
TCU turned up its pressure defense to close the first half, holding Texas Wesleyan scoreless for the final 5:46 of the second quarter. Over that span, the Lady Rams committed six turnovers and the Frogs used a 12-0 run to turn a nine-point lead into a 21-point lead at halftime.

The Frogs would go on to lead by as many as 35 points, 67-32, early in the fourth quarter. TCU shot 57 percent in the first three quarters, but finished at 49 percent after a 4-of-16 fourth quarter in which the Lady Rams outscored TCU, 18-12.

We were showing a lot of patience in trying to get the ball inside, whether it's through post touches, penetration or a lot of the different ways we can do it. Stat of the Game
56 -- TCU scored 56 points in the paint while holding Texas Wesleyan to just 12 points in the paint. The Frogs also dominated on the glass with a 51-28 rebounding advantage.

Up Next
The Horned Frogs open their regular season on Saturday, Nov. 11, when Oral Roberts comes to Schollmaier Arena for a 2 p.m. contest. The Golden Eagles won on the road at Oklahoma and Arkansas last season and return their top two scorers.
