FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU connected on 13 three-pointers Wednesday night en route to a 91-59 drilling of East Central University at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.

The exhibition contest marked the Horned Frogs' first and only tune-up before next week's season opener against Charlotte.

In all, the Horned Frogs, who attempted 36 treys in the ballgame, had three players score in double-figures. Freshman Zahna Medley led the way, scorching the Tigers for a game-high 21 points on 7-of-17 shooting, which included a 7-of-13 showing from deep. Sophomore Chelsea Prince chipped in with 12 points and five boards Wednesday, while Kamy Cole netted 11 points in her first outing in Horned Frog uniform.

Not to be outdone, sophomore Ashley Colbert grabbed a game-high 10 boards, while Natalie Ventress and Latricia Lovings both had nine points and seven rebounds, respectively.

For East Central, Kodi Morrison and Lindsay McCown each had 12 points apiece. Other highlights for the Tigers included Dilan Webster posting 11 points and eight boards.

On the night, TCU could do no wrong as the Frogs held a 23-8 advantage in points off turnovers, while also holding a 21-3 advantage on second-chance points. The Purple and White also out-rebounded ECU, 55-33.

With the Frogs clinging to a 52-27 lead at the break, East Central cut into the lead ever so slightly off a 13-4 run, but Medley promptly ended the run off a timeout. The freshman tickled the twine from deep to give TCU a 59-40 advantage halfway through the second half. A few plays later, fellow freshman Veja Hamilton found Lovings down low on a beautiful touch pass and the Frogs were in business. Medley continued her hot shooting from deep at the 10-minute mark to give TCU a 22-point advantage at 64-42.

Cole got into the act a few moments later, drilling two out of her next three from deep both off an assist from Meagan Henson to give TCU a 72-46 lead with a little over 7 minutes remaining in the contest. The Frogs were able to put it on cruise control the rest of the way, winning comfortably Wednesday.

Medley got the Frogs rolling early, draining a three from the top of the key on the very first possession. After a steal by Ventress at the 17:28 mark of the first half, the freshman sharp shooter calmly drilled another triple to give TCU an early 6-2 advantage.

The Frogs continued their hot shooting a few moments later when Cole scored from three-point land. On the very next possession, Lovings scored a tough two-point play and the Frogs were off and running, soaring out to a 17-8 lead when Medley found Prince down low off a dribble drive at the 12-minute mark.

The Frogs increased their lead to 23-10 midway through the first half, but East Central continued to battle, cutting the deficit to 23-18 off an 8-0 run midway through. Medley ended the mini-run, dropping another trey with a little over 7 minutes remaining in the first half.

With TCU clinging to a 26-21 lead, Medley drove the lane and found Colbert down low who ignited a 26-6 run to push the Purple and White lead to 52-27 down the stretch of the first half. During the run, senior Delisa Gross scored on a beautiful driving layup and freshman Caitlin Diaz powered home a jumper to put TCU comfortably in front at the break.

The Horned Frogs will open their season next Wednesday against Charlotte. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. CT from the DMC.
