TCU Head Coach Jeff Mittie
"The one thing I think this game will give us is what Grambling State exposed in our defense. I was really pleased with the rebounding after halftime. I thought we progressively played better throughout the game. Medley and Hamilton had great starts and so did the rest of the team. I am overall very pleased with how we played tonight."
On TCU's shooting percentage
"Making 18 of 20 layups is hard to do. So our layup drills have been working in practice."
On Klara Bradshaw:
"We were able to get her back into the game tonight. She was able to make some easy put backs and she earned some too. She had some great offensive rebounds. She's learning to play. Her stamina is getting better. Her progress has been very good. I have no doubt that she will progress even more throughout the season."
On practicing for the games:
"I thought we had opportunities in this game. We do need to learn how to start better and we need to learn to come out of the half better. Our team is still maturing. Out of the half, they did come out at us and trapped our rebounders and got a few steals after that, so this team is still learning and getting better."
"The thing I am most pleased with is that our rebounding is so much better than it was a year ago. It is enabling us to have the growing pains offensively and the inconsistency that we've had. One night we shoot 55 percent and the other we shoot 28 percent. However, the defensive rebounding is what has enabled us to go through that and still win games."
TCU center Klara Bradshaw
On transition from high school to college:
On playing more minutes:
"The game moves a lot faster but I think it is better that way because you get more opportunities in every aspect. It is a little challenge on both sides but I feel that I am adjusting to it, so I believe I will get better each game.""
"At first I was kind of nervous but my team really helped ease me into it and helped me with the overall flow of the game. Towards the end I felt like I was getting it."
TCU guard Natalie Ventress
On coming off the bench
"When coach calls my name to get in the game, I'm ready. I am so anxious to get on the floor. So when I get out there, I am hoping to give us a spark"
On the struggles and helping team
"In this game I wasn't shooting the three very well so I took a step in and shot a pull up jumper. If I am not shooting well I need to figure out other ways to score. I have to mature now that I am older. I think as a freshman I wouldn't step in and take the jumper."
On shooting woes and adjustments
"I feel like we are more focused and if we are not shooting well then we will try to take it into the paint."
On defense and breakaway layups:
"The breakaways started from defense obviously, but if our defense is good, our offense will also be good and if we can get layups off those it makes our field goal percentage better. When you are on defense and giving a spark to the team it is a really good feeling."
