Post-Game Quotes
TCU 76, SMU 70
Daniel-Meyer Coliseum (Fort Worth, Texas)
Attendance: 1,890

Latricia Lovings, TCU Junior
Playing after her fourth foul:
“I just had to stay on my feet and not jump as much as I was. I’m a shot blocker, it is what I love to do, so after that fourth foul I had to use my hands and feet.”

Her game tonight:
“I came in with a chip on my shoulder. We lost a heartbreaker last year, so we came out wanting to win.”

On the offense tonight:
“We came out and executed great. I think the offense has allowed for more movement, which is something I am very comfortable with.”

About her five blocks:
“I think I could have done better. If I didn’t have those four fouls, I think I could have done more.”

Jeff Mittie, TCU Head Coach
Opening statement:
“I feel like we are not a very big team, so it was huge for LT to dominate the glass for a majority of the night. She had key rebounds that led to points. Those type of extra plays are big for us.”

About flow of the game:
“We have had trouble stringing together defensive stops and offensive scores. Tonight, we did a little bit of both. It was one of the reasons we added a few sets. We were having trouble shooting the ball and I wanted to give us a few more options. I really didn’t know if we would use it a lot tonight, but we tried it out of a timeout and had a good look. We gained confidence out of it and rolled with it. It was a real key.”

About offensive production tonight:
“I thought SMU did a good job of extending their defense early. They kept a lot of pressure on us. I just thought we played a better game tonight and our group is getting better. Sunday’s game was tough, defensively, we didn’t stop anybody. I think this young group is learning to play more possessions.”

About Zahna Medley's 3-point game:
“Nine three’s for anyone is a large number, but she can shoot it. I was shocked she had nine tonight because it’s not like she took twenty to get them. She hit some big one’s tonight.”

Closing Statement:
“We fought harder tonight than previous games. We really have to rebound with all five. As a coach, I thought we had a lot more options to do things tonight. They are coming into practice working hard and learning. We are so young that we are just trying to get to practice tomorrow and figure it out. I said this before, but they come in everyday working and learning to play harder.”
