TCU vs. Stephen F. Austin Postgame Notes

Dec. 4, 2013

Recap |  Final Stats

TCU Head Coach Jeff Mittie

On the physicality of the game
"I thought they out-shoved us, out-pushed us and out-hustled us for the majority of the night. We had a few spurts where I thought we played pretty hard. I'm very disappointed that we were pushed and shoved around like that."

On the rebound differential the last three games
"It's been different reasons. Tonight, I thought it was effort. A couple nights ago, we just shot so poorly there were a lot more defensive rebounds out there. At the end of the day, the result has been poor. You don't usually win games that you're out-rebounded by nine and give up 25 offensive rebounds.

We had a lot of players standing around watching [Latricia Lovings] block shots. Those should be fast break points. An aggressive team, a team with a killer instinct - those should be points. But a couple times, they turned into points for them."

On the upperclassmen performance on the team
"I thought [Latricia Lovings], on the defensive end, was impressive. [Natalie Ventress] hit the stretch at halftime. We told her that we need her to be the best player. We need her to step up right now."

On the next four games being at home
"There's a window here to get some work down. We have finals and dead days starting tomorrow. You don't work them very long during those stretches. But there will be a consistent window to get some work done."

Junior Guard Natalie Ventress

On hot streak to start second half
"When my first three went in I got my confidence up and my teammates encouraged me to keep shooting and then the next few shots went in."

On maturing as a player
"I feel like my Coach and my team need me to step up and be mature, so starting with tonight, it is going to happen."

On coming together as a team
"We stick together and when someone's shot is not going in, we tell each other to keep shooting. We are very close and we depend on each other."

Senior Center Latricia Lovings

On career-high 10 blocks
"It's my job to defend the basket, and that is what I did tonight. We were struggling on one end of the court so I had to put my best effort on the other side of the court."

On winning close games and coming together
"It starts off the court. We are a much closer team off the court. All 14 girls want to win and so for us to win close games or come back late when you are down we know we have to come together as a team."
